Brush With Nature Multi-Sport Adventure in the Rocky Mountains
4 Days / 3 Nights
The Kootenay River valley was the destination for the first ever recorded journey for pleasure through the Canadian Rocky Mountains in 1841. We created this package with this pleasurable spirit in mind. It offers the adventurous traveler, new to the area, or not, some exciting and varied wilderness experiences, in truly remote, wilderness settings.
We will be mountain biking along ridges overlooking the Kootenay and Cross River valleys (with a few surprises along the way); river rafting some exciting stretches of whitewater on one of the nearby rivers ranging from grade 1 to 4; hiking up to a lofty mountain ridge with spectacular views of peaks all around, including Mt. Assiniboine, the sixth highest mountain in the rockies; and all with the opportunity to learn a bit about the history, geology, wildlife, and culture of the area along the way.

Day 1 Your arrival day into CrossRiver Wilderness Centre (CWC).
A hot evening meal will be served over some friendly introductions before settling in to a relaxing night at the cabins.
Day 2 After a hearty breakfast, we spend today out on the mountain bikes exploring the valleys and ridges around the Kootenay and Cross rivers.
We will enjoy spectacular views overlooking the river valleys along the way, as well as some breaks along the rivers to take in the natural gems such as waterfalls, plants and wildflowers, and a natural bridge.
Day 3 Bright and early we rise for breakfast then set out for a day-long rafting trip down one of the nearby raging rivers.
Depending much on the group and time of year, we can offer waters ranging from grade 1 to 4, and lunch will be served on the river. All trips will be a safe and enjoyable rafting experience including mountain scenery and getting wet!
Day 4 Today is your checkout day, but we make the most of it by taking you up on a half-day hike to a lofty mountain ridge beneath the towering Tangle Peak. The walk will be slow and informative, and the view from the top will be nothing less than breathtaking.
Mountain peaks will abound for 360º, including the sixth highest mountain in the Rockies, Mt. Assiniboine. These ridges are often visited by mountain goats, deer, and golden eagles, and who knows what other surprises could add to this experience on this very secluded trail.
After our descent back to CWC and one last meal together, we will part ways until next time.
