North West Mounted Police (NWMP) Wagon Trek & Trail Ride

11 Days

A Once in a Lifetime Opportunity to Experience the Life of Early Settlers for 11 Days

At a time when this part of Saskatchewan was still called the Assiniboia Territory, the rythmic clank of the train lulled the men into peaceful relaxation as their horses in the next car jostled for position and then settled into tranquility.

The two day ride in a CPR boxcar from Regina to Moosemin would be some of the onlyn time for real rest over the course of the next two weeks for these NWMP and their trusty steeds.

May had greeted southern Saskatchewan with rain, cold temperatures and even snow flurries. However that did not dampen the spirit of the hardy men who spent 12 days on the backs of their horses or sleeping on the wide open prairie as they made their way to their new detachment site near Estevan.

This trek has captured the imagination of historians because of the pioneer spirit it evokes. As Saskatchewan celebrates its 100 anniversary, this recreation of a historic journey will bring back to life sights and sounds of riders, wagons, camps and cookouts on the vast prairie landscape.

You are invited to join this trek from May 30th to June 9th.
