Day 1 You arrive in time for a tasty lunch with home –cooked favorites. The afternoon is spent checking over your gear ( a pre-trip list had been sent) and going over maps to better acquaint you with the area.
Day 2 Early morning rising, one hour before sunrise in order to have breakfast, prepare gear and head out before daybreak. For this first day we are trying to locate the general movement of the ungulates but don’t let that fool you; we may run right into them the first day. Lunch has been prepared because we know not where the trails will lead us.
Day 3 Depending on the previous day activities we may plan an overnighter; either in a tent or perhaps a trapper’s cabin. The reason for this may be the elk and/or moose may be holding further in the boreal forcing us as well to move further in. The benefit of this is that often we hear the elk bugling through the night. Sleep will come easy!
Day 4 Often on this day we are starting out from the tent or cabin and are immediately in the heart of elk/moose country. Sometimes they are only minutes away from our over-night location. You will start out in a different frame of mind because now you are in the aura of the boreal forest. You are in their world and it will be different. It is rather indescribable; you must experience it to understand.
Day 5 We most often head back to the lodge on the night of Day Four and therefore start from the lodge again this morning. By this time we have a good understanding of the elk/moose movement and may even “hone in” on a different species such as the whitetail deer for a variety of experience. We may use a canoe to get around thus adding further variety to the experience.
Day 6 We make a shorter journey this morning since after lunch it is time to head back to the world you are most used. Yes, indeed, it is much different from the world you just experienced. We are so fortunate to have such a variety experiences in our life. We do not believe you will forget “this world” for awhile . Thanks for joining us.
